Dr. Jake-Schoffman’s courses explore advanced research methods and the role of physical activity in the treatment of chronic diseases. Dr. Jake-Schoffman also teaches a graduate level course in research methodology for health sciences.

HSC 4950/6935: Special Topics — Physical Activity and Community Health

Few adults or children in the United States meet physical activity recommendations. Community settings, however, provide a variety of opportunities for population-level physical activity promotion, including schools, workplaces, and churches.
Through this interdisciplinary course, students explore:
- population levels of physical activity
- physical activity measurement
- the role of physical activity in the prevention and treatment of chronic disease
- settings and strategies for community-level physical activity interventions
