HHP prepares students to address the pressing issues that affect quality of life, while incorporating new technology, research and scholarly advances every day. Areas of concentration range from muscle physiology and fitness to sport management and tourism.
Meaningful research, quality education, and community service are at the core of APK. Our program focuses on the relationship between mind, body, and human movement to improve quality of life through enhanced fitness as well as preventing and treating disease. Opportunities after graduation include research or clinical educational institutions, health agencies and organizations, corporate or private fitness programming centers, and other health-related business and industry opportunities.
Building on a foundation of social and biological sciences, HEB Faculty and student research focuses on the growing array of health problems linked to lack of exercise, diet, substance abuse, stress, unintentional injuries, pollution and how many of these conditions can be prevented and controlled.
With the proliferation of both recreational and spectator sports, the sport management discipline is growing increasingly complex, so organizations in the sports industry are searching for leaders with specialized training. The department prepares students for management and leadership positions with professional sports teams, intercollegiate and intramural athletics, and recreation programs at colleges, universities and amateur athletic organizations.
THEM focuses on understanding the range of factors that lead individuals, families and industry to value and benefit from tourism, travel, parks and event planning, and then applies this knowledge to improve the quality of life. Our graduates pursue career opportunities with public recreation, travel and tourism, resort and attractions industries.
