LEARN MOREThe Department of Applied Physiology and Kinesiology is concerned with quality of life and the many aspects of human movement. Significant research contributions, education and service are related to the study of physiological and psychological responsiveness to vigorous and relevant physical activities. In addition, movement skills, capabilities, and ways to improve and maintain health are studied as they relate to the typical person, as well as to disabled persons and high-level athletes.
Anna is passionate about teaching and mentoring. She engages students in courses such as Physiology of Exercise Training and Clinical Exercise Physiology, fostering academic growth and practical understanding in the discipline.
Dr. Coombes' mentorship of Ph.D students is supported by NIH grants in chronic pain and Alzheimer’s disease, resulting in student authored peer-reviewed publications.
Dr. Terence Ryan receives 2 pre-doc and 1 post-doc award from the American Heart Association
Josie Ahlgren was awarded the Center for Teaching Excellence exemplary designation for the online APK2100c course.
In February, the Athletic Training Program will host Dr. Doug Casa. Dr. Casa's presentation is titled "Evidence Based Medicine in the Realm of Heat Stroke and Sudden Death"
