Dr. Stephen Coombes, associate professor and graduate coordinator in applied physiology and kinesiology, co-founder of the Laboratory for Rehabilitation Neuroscience, conducts groundbreaking research on human brain structure and function in neurodegenerative diseases, and disorders that impact the sensorimotor system. His mentorship of Ph.D students is supported by NIH grants in chronic pain and Alzheimer’s disease contributing to cutting-edge studies in pain physiology and aging-related neurology, and resulting in student authored peer-reviewed publications.
Dr. Anna Gardner, instructional assistant professor in the Department of Applied Physiology & Kinesiology, is passionate about teaching and mentoring. She engages students in courses such as Physiology of Exercise Training and Clinical Exercise Physiology, fostering academic growth and practical understanding in the discipline. Her research includes health behaviors among firefighters.
Jenny Neelands is responsible for supporting educational programs, particularly focusing on graduate programs, within the Department of Health Education & Behavior (HEB). Additionally, she manages HEB’s marketing and communication endeavors and assists the Department of Tourism, Hospitality and Event Management with graduate advising.
