About the Program
Advance Your Career in Athletic Training
The University of Florida’s Doctor of Athletic Training (DAT) is a clinical doctoral program for athletic trainers who want to continue developing their expertise after entry-level professional preparation.
The two-year program offers advanced coursework and clinical experiences in a fully residential setting. Students can focus their studies through one of our four concentrations, depending on their interests and professional goals.

Build on your professional preparation through advanced assessment, therapeutic intervention, and clinical practice.
The UF DAT program offers four concentrations, each with a different area of focus: Teaching and Leadership, Manual Therapy, Orthopedics, and Sport Performance.
Eligible resident positions provide 90% tuition support, an out-of-state tuition waiver, and a stipend, subject to position and program terms.

DAT Admissions Requirements
- Matriculation GPA of 3.0 (4.0 scale)
- Credentialed as (must meet at least one requirement):
- A Certified Athletic Trainer by the Board of Certification (Professional degree level – Bachelor or Masters accepted)
- Confirmation of eligibility to sit for the Board of Certification examination (Professional degree level – Bachelor or Masters accepted)
- International students: View your requirements.
- GRE scores are no longer required for admission to the APK doctoral programs. Applicants who voluntarily submit GRE scores will be neither penalized nor advantaged in the admission process on the basis of those scores.
To receive priority funding consideration, all application steps must be completed. Review of applications will continue until positions are filled.
