CONGRATULATIONS, HHP GATOR GRADS!

The College of Health & Human Performance will recognize 16 Ph.D., 142 master’s and 441 bachelor’s degree recipients at ceremonies over commencement weekend this spring.

The college recognition ceremony for graduates earning master’s and bachelor’s degrees will be held on Thursday, April 28 in the Stephen C. O’Connell Center with the student processional beginning at 1:30 p.m. The ceremony will officially begin at 2 p.m.

Dean Michael Reid, Ph.D., will preside over the ceremony with addresses by an invited guest speaker and a graduating senior. Graduates will cross the stage and be individually recognized at the college ceremony. 


GUEST SPEAKER

Alice Norsworthy, president of global marketing for Universal Parks and Resorts and a graduate of UF College of the Arts, will greet graduates and guests. Ms. Norsworthy serves on the National Board of Directors for Big Brothers Big Sisters, the Advisory Board for the Eric Friedheim Tourism Institute at the University of Florida, and the Board of Directors for Brand USA. She has been recognized by Advertising Age as one of America’s Top 50 marketers and was named one of the 100 Most Powerful Women in Travel three times by Travel Agent Magazine. Her direct oversight and involvement in various marketing campaigns has proven to produce global impacts.

GRADUATING SENIOR SPEAKER

Emily Wong, BS APK’22, was selected as the graduate speaker. Ms. Wong is of Cuban-Asian descent and was born and raised in Miami Lakes, Florida. At UF, she teaches group fitness classes with Recsports, volunteers as a community mental health advocate with the UF Counseling and Wellness Center, and is an ambassador for the college. She aspires to become a physician’s assistant and is currently working as a medical assistant at North Florida Urology Associates.


Doors for the college ceremony will open at 12:30 p.m. Graduates are expected to assemble at Gate 4 by 1:00 p.m. and the graduate processional will begin at 1:30 p.m. Complete details about the college ceremony, including a link to stream the ceremony live, can be found at hhp.ufl.edu/celebrate/spring-22.

A university-wide recognition ceremony for doctoral degree recipients will be held on Thursday, April 28 at 9 a.m. Joslyn Ahlgren, Ph.D., instructional professor in applied physiology and kinesiology, will address the graduates and guests.

The university-wide commencement ceremony for all graduating students will be held on Friday, April 29 at 7 p.m. in Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. President Kent Fuchs will preside over the ceremony. Former UF quarterback Tim Tebow, who went on to play professional football and baseball and is widely recognized for his philanthropy and motivational leadership, will deliver the commencement address.
