Biography

Dr. Jessica Francis is an instructor at the University of Florida Department of Sport Management. In addition to teaching in Sport Management, Dr. Francis also serves as the Internship Coordinator and Director of Engaged Learning and Outreach. She holds her Ed.D. from Florida State University. Her research is primarily in athlete and coach identity and development, specifically examining the academic, professional, and personal development of student-athletes and coaches at the college level. She has served on varying committees including the National Association of Academic and Student-Athlete Development (N4A) Ethnic Concerns Committee, the N4A Learning Concerns Committee and the N4A Student-Athlete Development Programs and Practices Committee.

Dr. Francis’ professional background is in college athletics where she spent almost 10 years working in academics and student-athlete development at the University of Central Florida, Florida State University, and the University of Tennessee. During that time, she took part in facilitating programs designed to provide holistic support as student-athletes transition to college and out of college. Prior to her current position, Dr. Francis worked at the Center for Inclusion and Multicultural Engagement here at the University of Florida.
