UF Online rose to the No. 4 spot in the 2020 rankings by U.S. News & World Report for the best online programs in the country, up from No. 5 in 2019. This ranking includes the College of Health & Human Performance online bachelor degrees in Sport Management and Health Education and Behavior.
In addition to the overall ranking, U.S. News ranked the University of Florida at No. 2 for Best Online Bachelor’s Programs for Veterans.
HHP continues to be a pioneer of online education. Since 2010, more than 200 bachelor’s and 165 master’s degrees have been awarded in HHP through online programs. Today, one out of five HHP students is an online student.
The college is working hard to expand enrollment in its online programs. This year, the new Bachelor of Science in Tourism, Event and Recreation Management online program will launch. Partnerships, such as The Walt Disney Company and WTA (Women’s Tennis Association), have increased access to education for their employees and members. Additionally, HHP now offers online master’s degrees in each of its four departments, with the first classes of graduate students enrolled in Applied Physiology and Kinesiology and Tourism and Recreation Management programs this year.
“Online degrees offer an opportunity to expand access while keeping costs low,” said Michael Reid, dean. “Our online students receive the same great teaching and advising as our students on campus, plus the flexibility to complete courses around their schedules and other demands.”

The rise in the rankings can be attributed to several factors, such as having high marks in categories including quality of faculty, affordable tuition, retention rates and technologies available to students.
