Obtaining employment in the sport industry requires an intentional effort. The University of Florida Department of Sport Management provides opportunities both on and off campus in order to network and build meaningful relationships with alumni and industry professionals while seeking your degree. Opportunities are shared weekly through the SPM Engaged Learning & Outreach course on Canvas. The University of Florida Department of Sport Management provides tools and resources to support the personal and professional development of students through individual interactions and experiential opportunities.
Students are informed and encouraged to BE RELEVANT by exposure to industry publications and conferences. Students are also encouraged to BUILD YOUR BRAND through individual support related to professional documents (e.g., resumes, cover letters), and other professional communications/interactions (e.g., the elevator pitch, LinkedIn, informational interviews/networking, job/internship interviews, conference preparation). Lastly, students are provided a variety of opportunities for RELATIONSHIP-BUILDING with professionals in their areas of interest through networking events, campus guests, student organizations, internships and volunteer opportunities.
