2023 HHP Outstanding Young Alumni

Joe DaSilva (BSSPM ’14)

Joe DaSilva is a man who lives by the inspiring motto, "Good, better, best. Never let it rest. Until your good is your better and your better is your best." He first heard these words from UF advisor, Dennis Barnes Jr, during his first campus visit, and they have been his guiding light ever since. DaSilva started his career at the young age of 13, working as a batboy and clubhouse attendant for the St. Lucie Mets. After excelling as a marketing and promotions volunteer at the University Athletic Association, DaSilva landed coveted internships with the Office of the Commissioner of Major League Baseball, where he worked on special events and reviving baseball in inner cities.

In 2015, DaSilva joined the ballpark enterprises team of the Washington Nationals, where he focused on generating revenue through non-game day events. He later moved on to corporate partnerships and played a key role in setting club-record revenues during the Nationals' historic 2019 postseason run and their first World Series Championship. After a brief stint away, DaSilva returned home to the Miami Marlins in 2021. Today, he works at iHeartMedia, using his sports broadcasting expertise to help brands reach new audiences.

DaSilva is also a dedicated mentor in his community. He has been mentoring Isaiah Fields, a graduate of the Nats Youth Baseball Academy that supports underserved children, for more than eight years.
