Patricia “Pattie” Tripp, Ph.D. LAT, ATC, CSCS, clinical professor and associate director of the Doctor of Athletic Training (DAT) Program in the Department of Applied Physiology & Kinesiology, has been inducted into the Athletic Trainers’ Association of Florida (ATAF) Hall of Fame. Members of ATAF’s Hall of Fame are those are who have “supported the athletic training profession through state activities, worked to establish the profession of athletic training and have been involved in the caring of athletes in Florida.” To be eligible, nominees must be certified/licensed athletic trainers with 20 years of experience and have a minimum of 20 years of service in Florida.
“I am extremely proud and honored to be a member of the ATAF Hall of Fame,” Tripp said. “I believe that being a student at UF (BSESS, 1998) and having mentors like Dr. MaryBeth Horodyski (pictured with me in the photo), Chris Patrick, Christine Stopka and Tom Kaminski helped me appreciate the role of service and the importance of being engaged within Athletic Training.”
Dr. Tripp helped to create the college’s DAT program and oversees the assessment and curricular programming for the degree. Additionally, she chairs the concentration oversight team for Teaching & Leadership and has expertise in lower extremity biomechanics. Dr. Tripp served as ATAF’s president from 2021-2023.
“During my term as ATAF president, we worked with the Board of Athletic Training (FLDOH MQA) to modernize the scope of practice for licensed athletic trainers in Florida,” Tripp said. “The clarity in language allows ATs to work at the top of their skillset and apply those skills in a variety of practice settings to impact the healthcare of patients across Florida.”
Join us in congratulating Dr. Tripp!
