CONGRATULATIONS, HHP GATOR GRADS!

On May 4, 2023, the University of Florida College of Health & Human Performance held a spring recognition ceremony in the Stephen C. O’Connell Center to celebrate 149 master's and 399 bachelor's degree recipients.

Dean Michael Reid, Ph.D., presided over the afternoon ceremony recognizing the graduates in applied physiology and kinesiology; health education and behavior; sport management; and tourism, hospitality and event management.

Steve Mesler, BSESS ’00, American bobsledder and co-founder, president and CEO of Classroom Champions delivered the guest speaker address. Mesler’s speech focused on navigating life's low points and turning those low points into opportunities.

Alexis Halstead, BS APK ’23, from Orange, Connecticut, delivered the graduating senior address. In her speech, Halstead acknowledged the resilience in facing changes and difficult moments, highlighted the importance of community and encouraged her classmates to use the skills to make a positive impact while embracing the uncertainty of the future.

To close the ceremony, the graduating Class of 2023 sang the University of Florida Alma Mater for the first time as new alumni.

At the morning's campus-wide doctoral recognition ceremony, two Ph.D.'s and nine Doctor of Athletic Training (DAT) graduates were recognized.
