The 2023 D.K. Stanley Day Committee and the College of Health & Human Performance welcomed the university and greater community to a special lecture, lunch and poster symposium in celebration of our first dean and the college's commitment to enhancing the quality of life.
The day began with the lecture, “Having a ‘ready for anything’ mindset: My path to the White House,” from UF Alumna Chynna Clayton, BSR ’10, BA ’10, CEO and founder of Matriarch Made Development and former director of travel and event operations for Michelle Obama.
Clayton's inspiring lecture covered her journey to the University of Florida, experience working in various capacities for the White House and lessons learned along the way.
“Something important that I want you to understand is being ambitious and wanting to succeed encourages others to do the same," said Clayton. "Don’t ever dim your light for anyone.”
A community lunch and student poster symposium followed the lecture.

“My hope is that you won’t stay in the familiar. That you’ll begin to uncover who you are and what your purpose is on the other side of familiar. Embrace the foreign.”
