HEB Master's Students Win Case Study Competition
Congrats to Gina DeSanctis (above left) and Liz Leja (above right), HEB alums and current MS students, for their first-place win in the inaugural National Case Study Competition in Health Education. The virtual competition included more than 25 teams from around the country working to address a community health issue. This year’s competition focused on breastfeeding disparities in a rural Louisiana county. HHP lecturer and internship coordinator Holly Moses advised the team for this competition.

Dr. Megan McVay Awarded Multi-PI R21 Grant
Megan A. McVay, Ph.D., Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Education and Behavior, has been awarded a multi-principal investigator R21 grant with Emily Bartley, Ph.D., Assistant Professor in the Department of Community Dentistry. Funded by the National Institute on Aging, the project titled Empowering the Management of Pain-Obesity-Weight Through Enhanced Reward involves a pilot trial to evaluate an intervention focused on increasing environmental reward to reduce low back pain and obesity.

Event management students win first place in the 2021 Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) North American Student Competition.
Congratulations to THEM undergrads Sophia Alday, Molly Heyner, Sarah Lentz and Caroline Murray who competed against 20 other submissions from nine institutions. They won an all-expenses paid trip to PCMA Education Conference 2021 in Phoenix this July to present their business event concept to an international industry audience. They will also be recognized on PCMA's website the week of May 10th and be included in a press release and article in PCMA's Convene Magazine.
Dr. Rachael Seidler selected by NASA to study astronaut health and performance for Moon and Mars missions.
APK's Dr. Seidler is one of seven researchers selected out of a field of 80 and will receive approximately $2.1 million during a one- to four-year period. Read full details HERE.
