Scott Powers Recognized by American College of Sports Medicine

Scott Powers receives the 2019 American College of Sports Medicine Honor Award from Kathryn Schmitz, Ph.D., ACSM president, at the annual meeting in June.

Congratulations to Scott Powers, Ed.D., UAA endowed and distinguished professor in APK, for receiving the 2019 Honor Award from the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) at their annual meeting in Orlando, Florida in June.

The award recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions to sports medicine and the exercise sciences.

Recognized nationally and internationally as a leader in the physiology and biochemistry of exercise, Dr. Powers has published more than 270 research articles, book and book chapters, and his work has been cited roughly 30,000 times.

Dr. Powers served as vice president of ACSM and president of the Southeast Chapter. He has been an active member of the organization for more than 40 years.
