HHP to Recognize 139 Students at December 15 Ceremony — 1:00PM in the Florida Gym.
Tickets are required for entry into the graduation venue and have been emailed to graduates. (Guests without tickets can watch the ceremony in room 210.)
The College of Health and Human Performance graduation will recognize students earning master’s and bachelor’s degrees on Saturday, December 15 at 1 p.m. in the Florida Gym.
A link to the live stream of the ceremony will be available online at mediasite.video.ufl.edu. Master’s degrees will be awarded to 34 students. Bachelor’s degrees will be awarded to 105 undergraduate students split among Applied Physiology & Kinesiology, Health Education, Sport Management and Tourism, Events & Recreation Management.
The guest speaker will be Dr. Jill Varnes, UF alumna, former HHP dean and professor. Dr. Varnes is credited with grants in excess of $3 million, and was the first faculty member in HHP to successfully compete for funding from the National Institutes of Health. She has contributed to various journals such as Preventive Medicine, Journal of Health Education, and Health and Education and Behavior.
The student speaker is Evelyn Maria Veras Cedeño, BS HEB ’18, with a minor in Latin American studies. She is from San Juan, Puerto Rico and attributes her passion for the healthcare field to her lived experiences as a Latina navigating the United States healthcare system.
The HHP ceremony will follow the university-wide commencement celebrating students from 14 colleges across campus and from all degree levels. The commencement address will be provided by Mr. Stephen A. Stills, singer/songwriter and two-time Rock and Roll Hall of Famer. No tickets are needed for the university-wide commencement.
A special ceremony for students earning doctoral degrees will be held on Friday, December 14 at 2 p.m. for, including four students from HHP. The ceremony will take place in the Stephen C. O’Connell Center.
