Melissa provides project management and oversees day-to-day activities associated with the research projects within the AVID (Addiction, Violence, Injuries, and Drugs) laboratory, including longitudinal data collection for two multisite and international NIH-funded R01 studies. Her interests include community based participatory research, cultural stress among diaspora populations, and utilizing qualitative research methods. She has a background in non-profit grant writing and federal grants management.

She holds a Master of International Studies degree with a focus in Human Rights from North Carolina State University and a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from the University of Florida.
