Dr. Cedric Harville, II

Dr. Cedric Harville, II is currently an Assistant Professor of Public Health at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville (SIUE).  Dr. Harville earned his PhD from the University of Florida in December 2019.  He started his faculty position at SIUE in August 2020.

Dr. Harville’s current research focuses on exploring food insecurity and food access among African Americans.  His goal is to improve the health outcomes of African Americans through building community partnerships, engaging in sustainable research, and innovation.  Also, Dr. Harville has explored college student health as it relates to food insecurity, stress, and depression.  Dr. Harville has recent publications in Nutrients and COVID.

Since joining SIUE as a faculty member, Dr. Harville has been awarded the Dean’s Grant for Research Enhancement (2020) and Vaughnie Lindsay New Investigator Award (2023).  Dr. Harville’s future goal is obtain NIH funding to support his research addressing health disparities among African Americans in East St. Louis, Illinois.
