Dr. Chappell is currently instructing in the Department of Health Education and Behavior after receiving her PhD in December 2022 from the University of Florida. She has worked with the HEB internship program for over seven years. Her passion for over ten years has been teaching health education and she is currently the Director of a school health educational program called S.H.I.P. that serves students in both elementary and middle schools in Alachua County.
Her research is primarily focused on physical activity, reducing obesity, sleep patterns, screentime AND behavior change among children with a focus on positive youth development. Her future goal is to continue a career in higher education instruction and continue to work with youth in promoting lifelong healthy habits early on so that they can improve the increasing rates of obesity, depression/anxiety and other life-threatening diseases that continue to rise in America.
