Transfer to hhp

Find the information for transferring to the College of Health & Human Performance student at UF.

Two female UF students looking at camera and smiling outside UF Reitz UnionFor application information, transfer students should refer to the admission as a transfer section of the UF Undergraduate Catalog. Within space and fiscal limitations, applicants from other institutions who have satisfied minimum requirements will be considered for admission at the junior level.

Florida community college applicants to the College of Health & Human Performance (HHP) must complete an Associate of Arts degree and meet all university and college-specific requirements. Admission evaluation factors include academic record, cumulative grade point average, performance in prerequisite courses, extent to which the applicant exceeds minimum requirements, and achievements and career goals as stated by the student. The admission review process is a holistic review of the applicant’s overall record and potential in the chosen academic field. Students who complete prerequisite courses outside the state system (students who attend out-of-state, private and/or international institutions) must submit course descriptions to the department adviser.

Transfer admission is limited and extremely competitive. Priority will be given to applicants who have completed an AA degree from a Florida public community college, state college or university, per the State of Florida Articulation Agreement. HHP accepts a limited number of transfer students during Fall and Spring semesters only based on space and fiscal availability.

To qualify (minimally) for admission to HHP, transfer applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Completion of a minimum of 60 transferable credit hours (preference extended to students earning an AA degree from a Florida public community college, state college or university);
  • A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA;
  • Completion of the required prerequisite courses with a minimum prerequisite GPA. Note: Preference will be extended to students who have completed a majority of prerequisite courses at time of application.
  • Prospective transfers from Florida public community colleges, state colleges or universities can refer to the Common Prerequisite Manual using the Florida Virtual Campus website.
  • For general transfer admission information, deadlines and application, please visit the UF Office of Admissions
  1. Submit the UF undergraduate admissions application. The application and fee must be submitted to UF Office of Admissions, along with transcripts from all colleges and universities attended.
  2. Review the transfer admission requirements for your desired major. Some majors require additional application materials. Please click on your desired major below for transfer admission requirements:
  3. HHP will evaluate your admission application to determine whether you meet admissions requirements. Admission evaluation factors include academic record, cumulative GPA, performance in prerequisite coursework, extent to which the applicant exceeds minimum requirements, and achievements and career goals as stated by the student.
  4. The UF Office of Admissions will notify you of your admission decision via the admission portal by the posted notification deadline.
  5. If admitted, you will receive a welcome letter/email from HHP outlining any conditions of your admission, as well as the next steps to take.

Applied Physiology & Kinesiology Transfer Admissions Requirements

Health Education Transfer Admissions Requirements

  • The Health Education Bachelor of Science program (HEB) offers specializations in Community Health Promotion and Health Studies. Students learn techniques to promote healthy lifestyle choices in individual and group settings with special attention given to health education methodologies.
The degree program allows students to focus their studies on interest areas in community and public health education, health promotion in the worksite setting or general health studies as they prepare for professional health occupations.
For questions regarding the requirements, email the HEB Advising Office.
Transfer students must earn their AA degree or a minimum of 60 credits hours and complete specific prerequisite courses prior to their enrollment at UF. The Bachelor of Science in Health Education program requires a minimum 2.5 prerequisite coursework GPA and a 2.0 cumulative GPA for transfer admissions.
  • General Psychology: PSY 2012 or equivalent
  • College Algebra (or higher-level MAC): MAC 1105 or higher-level MAC or equivalent
  • Intro to Statistics 1: STA 2023 or equivalent
  • Applied Human Anatomy with Lab: APK2100C or (BSC2085/BSC2085L; BSC2093/BSC2093L) or equivalent
  • Biology I with Lab: BSC 2005/L or BSC0201/L or equivalent
Note: Students planning to pursue a pre-health professional pathway should complete the higher-level mathematics and biology courses commonly required by professional schools. These typically include MAC 1140 and MAC 1114, MAC 1147, or a higher-level mathematics course; as well as BSC 2010 and BSC 2010L.

Students should also plan carefully for Anatomy and Physiology coursework.
Many professional schools expect completion of the full Anatomy and Physiology sequence. If you have started Anatomy and Physiology I with Lab at your current institution, it is recommended that you complete Anatomy and Physiology II with Lab at the same institution whenever possible. If this is not feasible, consult an academic advisor to discuss options for meeting your professional program’s requirement.
At the University of Florida, Anatomy and Physiology are offered as separate courses: APK 2100C (Human Anatomy with Laboratory) and APK 2105C (Human Physiology with Laboratory). Students should verify course equivalencies and prerequisite requirements with their intended professional program.
These recommended courses are requirements for graduation from the B.S. in Health Education degree but are not prerequisites for admission. The following specialization requires a minimum 2.0 lower-division course GPA.

  • Introduction to Public Speaking: SPC 2608 or (SPC1600, SPC1608) or equivalent
  • Fundamentals of Human Nutrition: HUN 2201 or (HUN1201) or equivalent
Students planning to pursue a pre-health professional pathway–including Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Optometry, Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, and other health related fields–are encouraged to review the information below, as it may assist with academic planning and preparation for transfer to the university.
Please note that prerequisite requirements vary by professional program and institution. Depending on your intended career pathway, you may be required to complete advanced mathematics and science coursework beyond the general requirements for your degree program.
It is the student’s responsibility to research the admission requirements for their intended pre-health professional program and to work with an academic advisor to determine how prerequisite coursework may be incorporated into the Health Education & Behavior (HEB) degree program. Students should be aware that completion of additional pre-health professional prerequisite coursework may be necessary for admission to professional schools but is not required for completion of the Bachelor of Science in Health Education degree.
At the University of Florida, the completion of the ALEKS Placement Exam https://registrar.ufl.edu/courses/aleks helps determine the appropriate placement in mathematics and chemistry courses; and may influence sequencing required for certain pre-health professional pathways. Students intending to pursue pre-health professional programs are encouraged to complete the ALEKS Placement Exam prior to attending UF.
Based on your ALEKS Placement Exam results, you may be advised to complete one of the mathematics and/or chemistry sequences outlined below.
