Alisha Katz to Lead College Communications

June 18, 2024

This week, Michael Reid, Ph.D., dean of the College of Health & Human Performance at the University of Florida, announced that Alisha Katz, APR, will lead the college's communications team.

Katz is the former associate account director for Real Chemistry, a global health innovation company. She previously managed marketing for several service lines at UF Health. A Gator grad, Katz earned a bachelor's degree in public relations, her accreditation in public relations and is currently pursuing a master’s in communications from the College of Journalism and Communications.

In her new role, Katz will oversee all marketing and communications for the college and will serve on the dean’s leadership team.

“We’re thrilled to have Alisha join our team,” said Reid. “Her extensive experience in health communications and her deep understanding of the Gator community make her an invaluable addition. I am confident that under her leadership, our communications will reach new heights.”

Dean Reid also thanked the search committee members for completing a highly competitive and successful search process. In addition to Reid, the committee included:

  • Natalie Addison, associate director of marketing and communications for recruitment and student success
  • Jeremey Clark, graphic designer
  • Sandra Durham, human resources coordinator
  • Lesley Ann Watt, director of development and external relations
  • Randy Wright, executive director for the division of media properties at the College of Journalism and Communications

Katz succeeds Michael Spear, who stepped down from the role after six years. Reid expressed his gratitude for Spear’s dedication and contributions during his tenure.
