Director of DeVos Sport Business Management Program to speak at HHP | 10/27
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – On Nov. 3, the College of Health and Human Performance will bring in Richard Lapchick, Ph.D., director of DeVos Sport Business Management Program, founder and director of The Institute for Diversity and Ethics in Sport (TIDES) and President/CEO of the National Consortium for Academics and Sports (NCAS). Lapchick will speak from 3 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. in Florida Gym room 280.
Lapchick, who has been named one of the 100 most powerful people in sports for six times, will discuss the topic of sport as a vehicle for social change.
James Zhang, a sport management professor, said the sport management program at the University of Florida recently has added a new research focus area on diversity issues in sports.
“Dr. Richard Lapchick is a world-renowned scholar in this area of study, particularly on issues related to policy development and effectuating change in the sport industry,” Zhang said. “We are very delighted to have him in our Seminar Series and consider his visit as an invaluable opportunity for us to strengthen the research and practice of our academic programs.”
Lapchick’s lecture is part of the ongoing Department of Tourism, Recreation and Sport Management Seminar Series.
