OLYMPICS BLOG 4: FINAL UPDATE | 8/26

BEIJING -- The last week of the Olympics was an exciting time in Beijing. Although less teams practiced at our training venues we remained busy dealing with the increased media attention the remaining teams received.

We were able to attend some track and field events (50K walk, discuss, pole vault, & hurdles) at the National (Bird's Nest) Stadium. We also saw the men's marathoners run through campus. The air and sky was clear for the event but it was hot & humid. Winning time was 2:06!  Additionally, we toured the Olympic Park and saw the Aquatic (Water Cube) facility.

Meetings were held regarding our College's agreement with Tsinghua University. It was announced that, next year,  they will fund one doctoral student to study in our College. We also made additional plans regarding next summer's Post-Olympic Development and Sports Business study abroad class. We also had the opportunity to meet the President of Tsinghua again. He attended a reception and photo session with Tsinghua's Olympic staff and volunteers.

Finally, we had the opportunity to see a couple of the venues in Tianjin (a satellite host city located 50 miles from Beijing).

We head back tomorrow.

Best wishes,
Dan & James
