"We're excited to offer students a chance to receive quality instruction in a fitness activity that they will find fun, educational and rewarding," said Dr. Douglas DeMichele, director of the Fit and Active Program. "This is a great opportunity for students to explore new activities and make new friends all while achieving their individual goals and establishing a healthy lifestyle."

The Fit and Active Program allows students to choose from a variety of lessons including golf, fencing, beginning tennis, intermediate tennis, beginning Latin dance, advanced Latin dance, Tai Chi, beginning swimming, advanced swimming, conditioning and jogging.

The group lessons provide individual attention as students improve their skills, practice the strategies and rules of the sport, and learn about health and safety precautions. The lessons also provide a great way for students to make new friends.

All lessons take place on the UF campus, within walking distance of the dorms. Only UF students are eligible for enrollment.

Lessons will be capped at 25 or 30, depending on the lesson. The eight-week lessons meet for two hours once a week, and the 12-week lessons meet for one hour twice a week. The first lessons will begin the second week of the fall semester.
