GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Gator Sport Management Club and JanSport will host a 3-on-3 basketball tournament to benefit the March of Dimes. The tournament begins at 2 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 18, 2007, in the Florida Gymnasium.
Teams must have three or four players prior to registering their team and all participants must sign a liability waiver upon arriving at the event. The entry fee per team is $15 for early registration or $20 the day of the event. The deadline for early registration is Friday, Nov. 16, 2007, by 4 p.m. Teams must bring matching team color shirts and an alternate white shirt. Not bringing a white shirt may result in a disqualification.
Tournament tip-off starts promptly at 1 p.m. Games will be half court 3-on-3 and 20 minutes in length with a running clock. Teams are allowed a single 1 minute timeout per game. In addition to the basketball tournament, there will be a three-point shoot-out contest, prizes, food and a goody bag to each individual participant.
Research has shown that in an average week in Florida 563 babies are born preterm. After two of HHP’s staff members had premature babies, the College now holds the March of Dimes charity close to their hearts.
