HHP HOLDS FIRST DEAN’S SOCIAL IN GAINESVILLE | 2/14

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Alumni, faculty and friends of the College of Health and Human Performance gathered at the first local Dean’s Social on Feb. 10, 2005, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Emerson Alumni Hall.

“We discovered we had a lot of alumni in the Gainesville-Ocala area, so we decided to host a social,” Interim Dean Jill Varnes said.

Other Dean’s Socials have been held in Tampa, Orlando and Jacksonville.

Beverages and hors d’oeuvres were served and every guest who arrived was entered into a drawing to win door prizes.

Janiece Davis (2003) won a college tote bag, Wende Blumberg (1976) won a gift certificate to the Gator Sportshop and Kay Garrison (1976) won a Gator throw blanket.

“It’s great networking,” alumna Amanda Hall (2003) said. “I met an old classmate from the college that I had never met before who could turn into a new friend.”

Varnes updated the alumni about the changes that have been made in the college such as the new department names and staff additions.

“I think it’s a great turnout,” Varnes said. “Everyone was connecting with friends and having a good visit.”
