GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- With a New Year comes New Year resolutions, and many people across the country decide to get in shape. Now is a great time for University of Florida faculty and staff to make a commitment to a healthier lifestyle by joining the Living Well Faculty and Staff Fitness Center.
Located on the East side of the Ben Hill Griffin Football Stadium, UF faculty and staff members can enjoy the convenience of a state-of-the-art fitness facility on campus. Now is a great time to join before the member fee increases.
Effective March 1, 2005, the fees at Living Well will increase $25 per year. The yearly membership now will cost $250, which is about $2 more a month. Additionally, members will have to pay the sales tax, as Living Well will no longer absorb the cost.
“You’re still getting a lot of bang for your buck at Living Well,” said Cassandra Howard, director of Living Well. “We offer many of the amenities that local gyms offer such as aerobic classes, yoga, tai chi, indoor basketball and water aerobics. We also have top-of-the-line equipment such as Med-X, Nautilus and StairMaster.”
New members can avoid the fee increase this year by joining Living Well before March 1. Current members who wish to renew before the rate change may do so, providing they make their payment before March 1.
Howard said the membership fee is being raised due to inflation.
“We haven’t raised the fee in more than five years,” Howard said. “Our yearly fees are still hundreds of dollars less than other gyms in Gainesville.”
