Undergraduate Research Opportunities

Undergraduate Research Course

The undergraduate research course allows students who are participating in research within an HHP research lab to receive academic credit for their volunteer experience.  This provides you with formal recognition on student transcripts and on faculty assignments for these activities.  All undergraduate students pursuing research in the college should register for the appropriate course (APK/HSC/LEI 4912) through their departmental academic advisor.  Please consult your faculty mentor for the appropriate number of credit hours (can register for 0-5 credits per term).  For more information about departmental research courses and approval forms, please visit your respective department pages below:

University Scholars Program

The University Scholars Program presents University of Florida undergraduates with the opportunity to work closely with faculty mentors while pursuing fundamental research, exploring scholarly inquiry, and developing new knowledge. University Scholars will receive a $1750 research stipend. Faculty mentors will receive $500. Scholars also have the opportunity to publish their work in UF’s on-line Journal of Undergraduate Research, and will present their research in the University Scholars Symposium.

Emerging Scholars

The Center for Undergraduate Research offers the newly established Emerging Scholars Program.  The program is open to freshman and sophomore students who have no prior research experience and who will be conducting research  in one of the following colleges: Arts, Business, CALS, CLAS, Education, Engineering, HHP, Journalism, The Florida Museum of Natural History, or PHHP.  Details about the program and the application process can be found at:
