In order to graduate with “honors” (Cum Laude), students must have a calculated upper division GPA of 3.4 or higher (excluding the internship). Neither an honors application or special project is required for “honors” students.
Students intending to pursue “high honors” (Magna Cum Laude) or “highest honors” (Summa Cum Laude) must have a calculated upper division GPA of 3.7 or higher (excluding the internship), and complete a special project (professional portfolio or honors thesis).
Guidelines for High & Highest Honors & Application
The application must be completed and signed by the student, and two HEB faculty members.
NOTE: The calculated upper division GPA can be found on the COMPLETE degree audit, below the requirement which reads, “HONORS ARE AWARDED BASED ON UPPER DIVISION GPA”.
