Faculty in Applied Physiology and Kinesiology study the immediate and lasting effects of exercise and its use in disease prevention and rehabilitation. Expertise of faculty include exercise physiology, sport and exercise psychology, biomechanics, motor learning, athletic training.
Faculty in Health Education and Behavior prepare professional health educators to work with diverse populations across disparate settings to protect, maintain, and improve the health and well-being of individuals, families, and communities and to eliminate health disparities among priority populations using the most effective health promotion, health education, health counseling, and health communication strategies.
Faculty in Tourism, Recreation & Sport Management study the role and impact of leisure services, including tourism and sports, on individuals, society, and the environment. The Department houses the Center for Tourism Research and Development and Florida’s 21st Century Community Learning Centers Program.
The 2007 Faculty Scholarly productivity index, reported in The Chronicle of Higher Education, revealed that our Kinesiology and Exercise Science faculty and Health Promotion faculty are two of the highest ranked at UF for scholarly productivity. In addition, the Kinesiology faculty ranked number 1 in the nation compared to their peers and the health promotion faculty ranked third comparatively.
