JOHN CURTIS IV MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
John Curtis IV

John Curtis IV was a 24 year-old Cocoa Beach Jr/Sr High School alum who graduated from the College of Health and Human Performance with a degree in Recreation, Parks and Tourism at the University of Florida. As a strong safety playing as #24, he was a proud member of the Gator Football team during both the 2006 and 2008 BCS National Championships. In addition, John was the Sports Director at the Northwood YMCA. He will forever be remembered for having a larger than life connection with students and parents alike. After graduating, John moved home to Seattle, WA where he continued to play football as #24 in the IFL for the Kent Predators.

Sadly, John left us on August 5, 2010 leaving lives forever changed. A scholarship was created - "The New 24"™ - named after the number that followed him throughout his life. This award will grant deserving students a scholarship to pursue their college dreams, just as John did. His #1 goal in life was to leave a positive mark on society and change the world, and this scholarship was designed to do just that.
