Dr. Norma M. Leavitt was on the faculty of the College for 28 years prior to her retirement in 1981. She first came to Gainesville in 1953 to chair the Department of Required Physical Education for Women, a position she held until 1962 when she moved to the Department of Professional Curriculum. Dr. Leavitt was a master teacher who accepted nothing but the best from her students. Her goal was to create highly competent professionals.

Norma M. Leavitt Undergraduate Scholarship: This award is for a student in any college major with a minimum 3.5 UF GPA. Criteria include outstanding character with a strong commitment to serve their profession.
