Herman W. Schnell was one of the original faculty members when the College was established in 1946. In 1946, Mr. Schnell became the head of the Department of Physical Education for Men, a position he held until his death in 1958.

Herman W. Schnell Memorial Graduate Scholarship: This award is for a graduate student with a minimum 3.50 UF GPA in any college major who has demonstrated a high level of scholarship, outstanding character and a strong commitment to serve their profession.
