Dr. Linda Thornton served as faculty member in the College of Health and Human Performance for 29 years prior to her retirement in 1998. During her tenure at UF, she was one of four women instrumental in establishing the women's athletics program in the University Athletic Association.
Criteria: This award is for a graduate student who is studying Recreation & Parks in the Department of Tourism, Recreation and Sport Management who demonstrates excellence while teaching and/or participating in projects, programs and/or publications which enhance the department’s mission for undergraduate education, and who the committee believes will be a strong advocate for the profession after graduation. The student’s intent to teach should be strongly considered, but not required.
