Three former professors of the College, Robert Allen, Owen J. Holyoak, and Paul R. Varnes have established graduate and undergraduate scholarships to be awarded annually. Drs. Allen and Varnes, graduates of the College, retired from Exercise and Sport Sciences, and Recreation, Parks and Tourism, respectively. Dr. Allen, who now resides in Vero Beach, retired from the College in 1988. Dr. Varnes served as Department Chair for 28 years prior to his retirement in 1997. Dr. Holyoak, who also retired in 1997, was the first Chair of the Department of Exercise and Sport Sciences.

This award is for a graduate student with a minimum 3.50 UF GPA in any college major. Preference will be given to students who have made a significant contribution to society through volunteer work and/or military service.
