Biography:
Matthew B. Walker, Ph.D, began his appointment at the University of Florida in the Department of Tourism, Recreation and Sport Management in the fall of 2008. Prior to joining UF, Dr. Walker was an assistant professor at East Carolina University in the college of Health and Human Performance. Dr. Walker teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in finance and economics.

Dr. Walker has been involved in numerous research projects with particular emphasis on strategic management, business ethics, corporate social responsibility (CSR), corporate citizenship (CC) behaviors, and philanthropic practices of organizations within the sport industry. More specifically, his most current research has focused on macro-system change, sustainability practices, consumer psychology, and stakeholder management in the social context. In addition, Dr. Walker has also been involved with applied statistics projects with an emphasis on sampling, mixed linear modeling, and probability theory. He has presented his research at numerous academic conferences, and his published manuscripts have appeared in a number of academic outlets including: Journal of Business Ethics,Journal of Sport Management, International Journal of Sport Finance,International Journal of Sport Management, and the Business Research Yearbook.

In addition to his teaching and research, Dr. Walker has provided extensive leadership and service to professional organizations such as the North American Society for Sport Management (NASSM) where he is the current chair of the publicity and promotions committee. He is also a member of the editorial staff for the Journal of Business Ethics and the Journal of Sport Management.

  • • Consumer (stakeholder) psychology related to organizational policies and strategies
