Biography:

Dr. Morgan Pigg holds B.S. and M.Ed. degrees from Middle Tennessee State University, and H.S.D. and M.P.H. degrees from Indiana University.  He previously held faculty positions at Western Kentucky University, the University of Georgia, and Indiana University.  He joined the University of Florida faculty in 1987 and served as Chair for the Department of Health Education and Behavior from 1987-1996.  He served as the Department’s Graduate Program Coordinator from 2001-2006.  He served as Department Chair again during 2007-2008.

Dr. Pigg’s professional interests include child and adolescent health, professional preparation, philosophy and ethics, and professional writing.  Courses currently taught include HSC 3032 – Foundations of Health Education, HSC 5956 – Writing for Professional Publications, and HSC 6037 – Philosophy and Principles of Health Education.  He enjoys teaching, working with undergraduate and graduate students, and pursuing his professional interest areas. 

Dr. Pigg served for 20 years as Editor for the Journal of School Health, published since 1930 by the American School Health Association.  Recognitions include the Willard W. Patty Distinguished Alumnus Award from Indiana University, the National Honor Award from Eta Sigma Gamma, and the William A. Howe Award from the American School Health Association.  He was selected as 1999 Teacher of the Year for the University of Florida.
