Biography:
Randy W. Braith, Ph.D., received his doctorate in exercise physiology and physiology from the University of Florida in 1991. He received three years of post-doctoral training at the University of Florida College of Medicine (Division of Cardiology and Department of Physiology), where he was an National Institute of Health post-doctoral fellow.
Braith is currently a professor in the Department of Applied Physiology and Kinesiology, College of Health and Human Performance, at the University of Florida. He is also joint professor in the Departments of Medicine (Division of Cardiology) and Physiology at the University of Florida. For the past 12 years Braith has directed the Clinical Exercise Physiology Laboratory where his primary research emphasis is cardiovascular disease and homeostatic mechanisms in heart and lung transplant recipients.
Braith is a fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR). Braith is associate editor for Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise and serves on the editorial board for the Journal of Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation. His current research projects in organ transplantation and heart disease are funded by the National Institutes of Health, the American Heart Association, the American Lung Association and the State of Florida Department of Health.
