The NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship was created in 1964 to promote and encourage postgraduate education by rewarding the Association's most accomplished student-athletes through their participation in NCAA championship and/or emerging sports. Athletics and academic achievements, as well as campus involvement, community service, volunteer activities and demonstrated leadership, are evaluated. The program aims to reward those individuals whose dedication and effort are reflective of those characteristics necessary to succeed and thrive through postgraduate study in an accredited graduate degree program.

The Maryville, Tenn., native owns a 3.68 grade point average in Exercise Physiology. He is the two-time winner of the SEC Men's Basketball Scholar Athlete of the Year and earned ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America honors each of the last two years, earning Second-Team honors in 2006 and First-Team honors in 2007. He earned a spot on the SEC's Freshman Academic Honor in 2004, and was on the SEC Academic Honor Roll each of the past three years.

Humphrey concluded his athletic career last month by helping the Gators to their second consecutive men's basketball national title. In the process, Humphrey became the NCAA Tournament's all-time leader in three-pointers made with 47. He is also the University of Florida's all-time leader in three-pointers made with 288 and holds the single-season record for three-pointers made, 113, each of the past two seasons.

Humphrey knocked down eight three-pointers in the Final Four this year, helping the Gators to wins over UCLA and Ohio State to claim the national title. For his performance, he earned a spot on the NCAA's All-Final Four Team. In four career games in the Final Four, Humphrey knocked down 18 three-pointers and averaged 15.5 points per game.

He is the 32nd Gator to receive an NCAA postgraduate scholarship and the first this season.
