Marissa is a research coordinator working with Dr. McVay and Dr. Jake-Schoffman in the Department of Health Education and Behavior. She received her BA in Psychology from the University of North Florida in 2014 and completed her MA in Forensic Psychology at Roger Williams University in 2017. Marissa assists Dr. McVay in conducting research on behavioral aspects of weight management, as well as additional ongoing studies in the McVay Weight Management Lab. Her research interests focus on stress management and coping among individuals with chronic illnesses (i.e., Type 2 Diabetes, cancer, chronic pain, and HIV+). Additionally, she is interested in the use and efficacy of complementary and alternative intervention methods (i.e., yoga, meditation) and those delivered electronically through mobile devices or social media platforms. Marissa is a member of several professional organizations including Society of Behavior Medicine (SBM) and American Psychology-Law Society (APLS).
