Molecular Physiology Lab

Exploring the molecular and cellular mechanisms of activity-induced physiological adaptations.

Research at the molecular physiology laboratory examines how muscles grow or gain more endurance, and the molecular level changes and genetic background involved in those muscle adaptations. The lab also examines what controls skeletal muscle mass and what key chemical signals are required to maintain muscle and prevent muscles from wasting away.

The Molecular Physiology Laboratory, founded in 2001, is part of the Center for Exercise Science, a multidisciplinary research facility associated with the Department of Applied Physiology & Kinesiology and the College of Health & Human Performance at the University of Florida.
